Summer 2014 - Charleston has gone to the dogs!  This summer, come celebrate the season with your four-legged friend at one of our many dog-friendly events.  From our Yappy Hour at James Island County Park to our Pups, Yups, and Food Trucks event at Palmetto Island County Park in Mt. Pleasant, we're proud supporters of events that promise fun for the whole family.  Food, beverages, and good times will be had by all.

August 2014 - Surfers Healing harnesses the meditative, transformative, and - above all else - fun experience of surfing and brings it to both the families of and children living with autism.  This organization has spent the last 15 years giving kids with autism the opportunity to go surfing, with the overall goal of helping to foster the acceptance and understanding of autism.  Surfers Healing is bringing a team of amazing volunteers and some of the best surfers around to the greater Charleston area to Folly Beach, SC on August 20th, and Crews Subaru of Charleston is proud to support this event.  View additional information about Surfers Healing here.




August 2014 - Be prepared to beat the heat in one of the most epic ways possible: on August 31st, the Riverdogs Stadium will be soaked with over 300,000 gallons of water!  Tickets are $15 per person, and this gets provides you with the opportunity to spend the day enjoying local foods and local bands from 3 - 9 pm.  Featured performers include Kat Robichaud, Dead 27s, The Royal Tinfoil, and South Street.  Get your tickets now by clicking here and don't miss out on this once a year event!




Summer 2014 - Join Crews Subaru and Charleston County Parks and Recreation and come cheer on the Charleston River Dogs!  We're proud sponsors of Family Sundays at the ballpark, and we invite you to join us for a variety of activities that will be fun for the whole family.  On June 1,8,22, July 6, 20, and August 3, 17, there are family specials and kids have the opportunity to go on the field before the game.

 Downward Facing RiverDog at The Joe

September 2014 - Get your downward facing dog on with fellow yoga lovers at the RiverDogs Stadium!  Flow along with international yoga instructor Kathryn Budig from 10 -11 am on Saturday, September 6th.  You'll get up close and personal with the emerald green grass of Riley Park, and can follow up your practice with a bloody mary or mimosa at the event's cash bar.

Designed for all levels, "the class will be playful and accessibly challenging," says Budig.

Tickets are $10 in advance, and can be purchased through rileyparkevents.com or at the Riley Park box office.  On the day of the event, you can buy them for $15 at the gate.

The best part?  This event benefits "Poses for Paws," an organization that Budig cofounded to help raise money for animal shelters through events like this.

Live music by Estee Gabay will be played in vendor village following the hour-long class.

2013 Crews Upcoming Event - Color Me Rad 5K

 

March 2013 - "If you're allergic to the metric system, corn starch, or unbridled joy, you'd probably be more comfortable watching Matlock than at the starting blocks of this color-filled 5k. But if you're itching for a great time and not from a bad case of diaper rash, Color Me Rad Charleston is the run for you." 

We love the description of this upcoming 5K to be held on March 23, 10:00 AM, at the Exchange Park in Ladson!  And Crews is very excited to be the lead vehicle for the race - we will have an awesome view of the runners turning all the colors of the rainbow as they completed the Color Me Rad course.  This is a 5K like no other in the Charleston area!  So if you are looking for something a little different, a little over the top, and a ton of fun, then we will see you at Color Me Rad on March 23rd!


2013 Crews Upcoming Event - Inaugural Charleston Trials

 

March 2013 - Everyone in the Charleston area is familiar with the Charleston Cup!  It is an amazing horse racing event at Stono Ferry that brings out the spectators dressed to the nines as well as some amazing tent and food setups.  You have to see it to believe it.  While this is a highly anticipated event, this is not their only offering this year!  On Sunday, March 17, 2013 the Inaugural Charleston Trials will be held at the Plantation at Stono Ferry. Gates Open at 9:00 am - paddock call at noon. There will be three flat races and two steeplechase races. 

But this event would not be complete with a little something extra.  So, based on the date, mark your calendar today and start planning your St. Patrick's tailgate setup now!  Come out with the whole Crews crew to enjoy a fun filled day of flat and steeplechase races and 'get your green on'!  Hope to see you there!

2013 Crews Upcoming Event - Sweet Grass Music Festival

 

March 2013 - 1st Annual Sweet Grass Music Festival in Mt. Pleasant, SC at Patriots Point. Battleships and Bluegrass. And a great time to be had by all!  Nobody describes the event better than the website itself:

"Join us March 16, 2013 for an awesome day in historic Charleston, SC, at beautiful Patriot's Point, of bluegrass music and fun for the whole family. The day begins at 7:30 am with a 5K run/walk with Rhonda Vincent singing the National Anthem. Then starting at 10 am the day is filled with world class bluegrass musicians until 10 pm that night! 

We have an amazing line -up of artists from local band Common Ground to Nothing Fancy, Young rising star Sierra Hull, Balsam Range, one of the hottest bands in bluegrass right now, to many-time male vocalist of the year Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out and we top it all of with superstar Rhonda Vincent and her band The Rage!

Lots to eat and do for the whole family! Also Balsam Range will be playing a benefit concert the following day at Seacoast Church in Mount Pleasant, SC to raise money for an awesome charity. A fun weekend of bluegrass music you won't want to miss!

2013 Crews Event - Special Olympics Mid Winter Games

 

March 2013 - March 1 and 2, at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina was a great weekend! Thanks to everyone that came out and joined Crews Subaru to show support for the 920 athletes who competed this weekend at the Citadel.  It was a great weekend of sports, catching up with old friends, and making some new ones too! A great weekend and experience at the Games!

2013 Crews Event - Unmasking Colon Cancer Gala

 

March 2013 - The 7th Annual Unmasking Colon Cancer Gala returned to historic Charleston this weekend, and there was a great crowd at the Legare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing for this grand evening of elegance and entertainment under the stars for an amazing cause.

Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres followed by a welcome ceremony and live auction with our own Ken French! Carmen Marc Valvo, fashion designer and colon cancer survivor, presented his spring collection in a New York style run way show. The evening concluded with a live band and dancing.

All of the proceeds raised from the gala will be used to support colon cancer research, outreach, and screening programs that benefit all citizens across South Carolina.


2013 Crews Event - Pork, Pints, and Pearls

       

February 2013 - Gray skies and chilly temps did not keep anyone away from the rescheduled Pork, Pints, and Pearls 2013! We had a great time at the event, and we know everyone else did as well.  Amazing oysters, BBQ, hot dogs, burgers, and a great selection of beverages.  No one went home hungry, that is for sure!  We have decided to leave the information that Kristin Power sent out before the event so you can see how many different things went on that afternoon. The band kept everyone entertained, and the kids kept busy on the jump castles, painting, and in the petting zoo!  We can't wait till next year for what we hope will be an even bigger Pork, Pints & Pearls 2014!  Thanks to everyone that came out and helped Windwood Farms - this could not have happened without you!

The 2013 PORK, PINTS & PEARLS has been rescheduled for THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 2.


The event will be held same time and same place:  Children's Park from 3 to 7 p.m.  At this time we have confirmed the majority of the logistics and we are working hard to solidify the rest.  Oysters will be provided from Charleston Outdoor Catering, A performance from Peace Love and Hip Hop is secured and THE TRAVIS ALLISON BAND WILL PERFORM!!!  


Children's Entertainment will include all the previously planned activities: 2 - Jump Castles (one for smaller children ages 2-4, and another for 5 and up), petting zoo, face painters, children's photo booth and a paint station from Fear No Easel.  Children's food Southern Sides from Mama Browns and BBQ from Hamby Catering.  Our silent auction items are ready to go!  


The beer truck will be waiting to tap domestic and import beers and wine and Firefly will be served for adults that show proof of ID (cash and credit will be accepted for the purchase of alcoholic beverages). 


Please note, our online ticketing system only captures the email address of the person that purchases the tickets online for their party. Therefore, we do not have contact information for additional attendees within your party - PLEASE forward this information to everyone in your party as well as co-workers, family, neighbors or friends that may have previously purchased tickets.   Thank you for your support in spreading the word.


We will be selling additional tickets to this event! Pre-event tickets can currently be purchased for $30 online a twww.windwoodfarm.org.  We will have "day of ticket" sales available for $35 at the door ? these will be based on a first come first serve and we will have to sell out the event at 1500.


For those that have previously purchased advanced tickets:  You do not need to purchase any additional tickets.  Your ticket for last week's event wills serve as you ticket for this week's event.  We still request that you bring your receipt in hand or on your smartphone to expedite the check in process. If you have misplaced this receipt or turned it in at Mama Brown's on Sat, please feel free to ask me to resend.


Also remember to bring chairs, ID's and cash or credit if you plan to bid on any silent auction items or purchase drink tickets (21 and older).


The committee would like to say a special thank you to Mama Browns who was scheduled to cater the BBQ and sides for the event. Mary Alice (the owner) and her team allowed us the opportunity to serve food to ticket holders who were able to come out to her location on the corner of 41 and 17. In three hours we served more than 400 plates of BBQ!  Wow!!!

2013 Crews Event - CCSD 2013 Gala

 

February 2013 - Last year's Charleston County School District's (CCSD's) and the Coastal Community Foundation's 2012 annual winter gala and silent auction, An Evening with the Stars, was an outstanding success! And this year was the same. This year's theme, International Indulgence, was on Friday, February 22nd at the Charleston Marriott Hotel.  The event included cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, silent and live auctions (featuring a member of our own staff), gourmet dinner, dancing, and recognition of CCSD's quality educators. There were more than 550 guests, coming from an elite list of donors and supporters. Another great event to recognize the great educators in our area!


2013 Crews Event - Southeastern Wildlife Expo

 

February 2013 - This year's Southeastern Wildlife Expo was another amazing event showcasing a number of Charleston-area venues, as well as the demonstrations, art displays, speakers, and presentations themselves.  A great event every year, and one that outdoor and animal lovers should not miss.  Best described on the event's web page, here is a bit of background on the 2013 event: 

"Now in its 30th year, the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition has grown to be the largest event of its kind in the nation, attracting over 500 artists and exhibitors from around the globe who present their offerings to over 40,000 attendees. A 3-day celebration of nature that has earned a reputation for excellence, SEWE now hosts the world's foremost experts in wildlife and nature art, as well as conservation research and environmental education. 

Established in 1982, the first Southeastern Wildlife Exposition took place in February of 1983, with approximately 100 exhibitors and 5,000 people in attendance. Its goal was, and is, to produce an event which contributes significantly to the economy while promoting the conservation and preservation of nature and wildlife through its educational outreach programs and its focus on the visual arts. 

The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition is a critical part of the South Carolina and Charleston calendar. Run with the utmost professionalism and pride, an effort that began as a small winter diversion has now become the largest annual event to take place in South Carolina and one of the most popular and successful events in the country." 

And as we said before - the dogs are our favorite, and they did not disappoint this year!


2013 Crews Event - Charleston Women's Show

 

February 2013 - We hope you were able to join us this past weekend at the Omar Shrine Center of Mount Pleasant for the Charleston Women's Show, a hit year after year! 

This year's Women's Show was a combination of boutique shopping, health, business driven by women, networking opportunities, and other fun-filled, interactive activities for ladies such as chocolate tastings, cooking demonstrations, and group performances. And the excitement is already building for next year - both for vendors and guests, so we hope to see you out there!

  

2013 Crews Event - DISA Oyster Roast

 

February 2013 - This weekend were happy to sponsor the Daniel Island Soccer Academy's Annual Oyster Roast.  This was a great event put on by the DISA Boosters, and this year the event was SOLD OUT!  A family event that raises money for the academy via a great auction - tickets to Disney, golf packages, restaurant gift cards, and more were on tap.  And speaking of tap, the beer truck was on hand for the event.  If you did not get tickets this year, then we hope to see you out at the DISA event for 2014...but we are sure the tickets will go fast again!

 

2013 Crews Event - The Chocolate Affair

  

February 2013 - Crews Subaru had a great evening on February 9th in the ballroom at the Charleston Marriott Hotel at 170 Lockwood Blvd., Charleston, SC for the gala event that offerred gourmet catering and chocolate desserts from Charleston's finest restaurants and specialty shops. The open bar and Reception Menu included a variety of hors d'oeuvres. The evening also featured more than 200 auction items for every budget. Auction items included jewelry, fantasy vacations, furniture, artwork, dinner packages, gifts, and services!

This fundraiser supports Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area Inc., a nonprofit organization that surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. It fulfills its mission by connecting the best community resources with the needs of students, their families, and schools. Communities In Schools addresses both the academic and social service needs of over 10,750 students in 23 Charleston and Berkeley County schools. 

If you didn't make it this year, bring your sweet tooth to help your local schools in 2014!

  

2013 Crews Event - Fight Night at The Point Eight

 

February 2013 - This past Saturday, the Crews Crews "jumped in the ring" for some MMA action at the Omar Shrine Temple.  If you missed it this weekend, come on out next time and see what Palmetto Boxing Promotions, LLC and Palmetto Sports Management have joined forces to create in the Lowcountry - Conflict MMA Promotions!  Their goal is to match competitive fights and bring world class talent to our area. The future continues to look bright as Conflict develops the next generation of up and coming contenders. See you out there next time! Congrats to all the fighters!

  


2013 Crews Event - Lowcountry Oyster Festival

 

January 2013 - The Crews Crew did some oyster shucking this weekend, and we had our fair share of the 80,000 oysters they served! 

This past Sunday, January 27th was the Lowcountry Oyster Festival - the world's largest oyster festival! It has been named one of the "top 20 events in the southeast" by Southeastern Tourism Society. If you came out, we are sure you saw the legendary "Oyster Shucking" and "Oyster Eating" Contests, the live music on the main stage, and the "Food Court" showcasing some of your Lowcountry favorites. 

And a huge thank you to everyone that came out - you helped a number of great charities: The Ronald McDonald House, Hospitality Heroes, Hollings Cancer Center, Shriners Hospitals for Children and Charleston County Schools Science Materials Resource Center. 

Come on out next year and shuck some!

  


2012 Crews Share The Love Events - The Charleston Animal Society

 

Share The Love 2012 - Crews Subaru kicked off another great Share The Love Event with our long time partner, The Charleston Animal Society!  On Saturday, December 1st, from 11 AM to 3 PM, we had a ton of Subaru pet lovers stop by Crews Subaru of Charleston, on 8261 Rivers Ave, for a day of pet fun and support. 

Animals from the Charleston Animal Society were onsite and available for adoption, Alton and Aaron the wonder dogs who survived being neglected and almost drowned were with us and everyone saw their amazing progress and recovery, numerous pets came to get their picture taken with Santa Paws from 11 AM to 3 PM, and we had a great number of people drop off a gift for the animals at the shelter.  Our wish list for the animals included (and we will still accept any donations):

  • Kong Toys, Treats, and Towels
  • Canned cat and dog food
  • Cat Litter
  • Office Supplies like pens and copy paper

Subaru funded the ASPCA Project Orange pilot cities to the tune of $250,000 each, and Charleston was one of those cities. The recipients locally were the Charleston Animal Society and Pet Helpers. Project Orange was the original name of the Spay and Neuter program. ASPCA directed funds to Charleston from Subaru: $384,000 over 4 years!  So come on out to Crews Subaru to help keep this great funding flowing!

By the end of the Share The Love Event, Subaru will have donated nearly $25 million to charities. When you buy a new Subaru, we will donate $250 in your name to one of 5 designated charities. For 2012: ASPCA, USO, Alzheimer Association, Meals on Wheels, and Make A Wish. This year, we are once again teaming up with the Charleston Animal Society and East Cooper Meals on Wheels!





  

  


2012 Crews Share The Love Events - East Cooper Meals on Wheels

Share The Love 2012 - We are once again kicking off the Share the Love campaign with our friends at East Cooper Meals on Wheels! Last year, East
 Cooper received an amazing grant from Subaru of America, Inc. for their efforts during the Share the Love Event! And this year, we are going for more of the same to help our Lowcountry seniors. Recently, Ken, Summer, and Carrie Ann got us started by helping out with one of the East Cooper delivery routes, and we have more on tap!

Now through December 31st - To help out East Cooper Meals on Wheels even more this year during the Share The Love Event, we are kicking off a "Stuff The Trunk" event this Saturday (Dec. 1st) at the showroom.  Stop in and bring a non-perishable breakfast item to help us "Stuff the Trunk" and beat hunger for Lowcountry Seniors.  We will keep stuffing the trunk until December 31st, when we deliver everything we have accumulated to East Cooper Meals on Wheels!  Items needed include healthy cereal, instant oatmeal, instant grits, granola bars, protein bars, and juice. And when you drop off any of these non-perishable breakfast items, Crews Subaru of Charleston will give you 15% off an oil change or 10% off all other services (cannot be combined with other offers).  Helping each other is how we like the holidays to be a Crews Subaru!

December 12th - On December 12th we were back out at East Cooper Meals on Wheels to help pack meals and take on two different delivery routes. East Cooper is always looking for help, so check out their volunteer activities - they are always happy to have more hands helping.

December 31st - December 31st is when we head out to East Cooper to deliver everything we gathered from the Stuff The Trunk effort, and we will once again be helping pack and deliver meals with East Cooper staff!  After this event, watch for another great post that showcases everything we have done with East Cooper to date - it will be exciting to see the final "product" and see how East Cooper is once again making a huge difference beating hunger with the seniors in our area.

2012 Crews Summer-Long Event - Family Sundays with the Riverdogs


 

Summer 2012 - This Summer was amazing at "The Joe", and we were there for Family Sundays!  It was a great way to spend a Summer day with the family for some great baseball and entertainment.  Each game was packed with "mini-events", like the sumo wrestling that always ends with one opponent getting crunched!  Grab a cool drink, a hot dog, and join us next season for some great Riverdogs baseball!



2012 Crews Season Event - Charleston Battery

 
Summer 2012 - We had an exciting season out at the Battery! And for next year, look no further than your Charleston Battery, and join the Crews Automotive Group (Battery Community Partners) for another great season of soccer at Blackbaud Stadium.  An evening with the Battery is a blast for the whole family!  Not a bad seat in the whole stadium - the perfect place to get to see The Battery play MLS teams from around the US.


2012 Crews Event - 13th Annual Celebrity Chili Cook-Off & Oyster Roast

 

November 2012 - The CELEBRITY CHILI COOK-OFF & OYSTER ROAST on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH, 2012 at Joseph P. Riley Park was a blast! We loved this event!  There was a ton of great chili and oysters for a great cause - The Charleston Animal Society! We hope you made it out for the perfect outdoor celebration to kickoff the holiday season.  More than 1,000 animal supporters from all over the Lowcountry filled the grounds of Joe Riley Park to witness the spirited rivalry between local celebrities and other notables for the coveted champion robe...all while tasting the award winning chili, shucking endless oysters, enjoying local beers from Palmetto Brewery, listening to music from amazing local musicians, and supporting a great cause. Thanks to everyone that came out, and a huge congratulations to The Charleston Animal Society for the $7,500 grant from Subaru!  A great day all around!

  


2012 Crews Event - Charleston Cup

 

November 2012 - This event was presented by Crews Chevy with races sponsored by Crews Subaru and is a Crews Automotive Group favorite!  Sunday was live horse racing at its finest!  The 19th running of the Charleston Cup took place at The Plantation at Stono Ferry on Sunday, November 11, 2012.  Sanctioned by The National Steeplechase Association, the Cup has become one of the premier sporting events in the Carolina Lowcountry, offering spectators the opportunity to experience live horse racing at its finest.  The fancy duds and culinary spreads were abundant at the event, and the track was lined with amazing tents and guests dressed to the nines.  But don't forget the horses!  The Post and Courier had tons of great race coverage!

  

2012 Crews Event - Beer Fest Mellow Mushroom

 

November 2012 - Crews Subaru joined in the festivities for the 3rd Annual Mt. Pleasant Beerfest that took place on November 3rd at the Highway 17 location from 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm. There were more than 60 craft brews to try, and music from The Dubplates and Schema. And being at the Mellow Mushroom meant we had some awesome food as well. All Proceeds from the festival went to the Carolina Youth Development Center.  If you missed it, you missed out!

  

2012 Crews Event - Daniel Island Park Day

 

November 2012 - Crews Subaru at the Daniel Island Park day! What a great day, and we could not have asked for better weather!  Mayor Riley kicked off Park Day, and we hung out with some of local vendor friends like Air & Earth, The Backpacker, The River Dogs, and Folbot!  This day celebrated the grand opening of its newest park with outdoor family fun for all ages that showcased and supported a diverse range of local charitable organizations. In addition to live entertainment, there were games, jump castles, a pie baking contest, a mobile skate park, tarp surfing, animal exhibits and TONS of other favorite activities. Don't miss it next year - more that 5,000 people were out there!

  


2012 Crews Event - Race for the Cure

 

October 2012 - Lowcountry Race for the Cure - post race interviews contained talk of the race potentially surpassing $1 million dollars this year, well past their goal! It was a wonderful day on Daniel Island with perfect weather for the event.  Situated on Daniel Island, the race is filled up fast, and everything went smooth this year. The course was a bit long, but even the winners did not mind the discrepancy - both male and female winners stating it was a great event and course.  Check the Post and Courier or our Facebook page for links to more detailed stories and videos on the Race for the Cure.


2012 Crews Event - OctoberFest at Blackbaud Stadium

 

September 2012 - A great Crews-Subaru-Day at the 9th annual Charleston Oktoberfest at Blackbaud Stadium.  Presented by Warsteiner, the event included the "Oompah band" of the Roger Gootman Sauerkraut Band, authentic German dancers, a wide selection of German beers, and a variety of delicious Oktoberfest foods. What more do you need for a great Oktoberfest? The Fall would not be the same in Charleston without a great event like this...see everyone next year!


2012 Crews Event - IOP Connector Run & Walk for the Child

 

October 2012 - An amazing race this year with record numbers - 1600+ if we are correct!  Plus a great band, beer garden, and great post race event - this run is growing fast!  And we are looking forward to an even better event next year!  Hundreds, nope, now we can almost say thousands, of runners took part in a great 5K/10K event to help raise money to prevent child abuse and to help other child-related programs.  Thanks to all the runners, volunteers, spectators, and sponsors - you make all this happen!

    

2012 Crews Event - Rally for the Cure Golf Tournament

 
October 2012 - Crews Subaru headed out to the Daniel Island club on October 2nd for the 3rd annual Rally For The Cure Golf Tournament put on by the Marriott Business Council. Rally for the Cure is a grassroots program that works to spread awareness about breast health and breast cancer in support of Susan G. Komen™. Their mission is to empower people to join the fight against breast cancer by educating their friends, family, and community on the importance of early detection through volunteer organized golf, tennis, and social events. It was great to see so many people out there for this 4-person scramble event!  Looking forward to next year!

   

2012 Crews Event - Taste of Charleston

 

September 2012 - Crews Subaru had a great day at the Southern Living Taste of Charleston! This marked the 32nd annual Taste of Charleston event. A 3-day culinary event celebrating Lowcountry cuisine, it was hosted by the Charleston Restaurant Association. If you were not there this year, don't miss an event that has been going on for more than 20 years and named one of the "Top 20 events in the Southeast" by Southeastern Tourism Society. A charity event with more than 10,000 guests, we are sure 2013 will bring something for all ages to enjoy. Thanks for coming out! 

   


2012 Crews Event - Meals on Wheels Charity Golf Classic

 

September 2012 - Once again Crews Subaru headed out to the links to help our friends at East Cooper Meals on Wheels for the 14th Annual Outback Steakhouse Charity Golf Classic. On September 18th, more than 100 golfers gathered at the RiverTowne Country Club to "drive" away senior hunger in the East Cooper area.  With a 1:00 PM shotgun start, this tournament featured an exclusive menu from Outback Steakhouse for lunch and dinner, an 18-hole Captain's Choice format, a golf shirt for every player, and much more.  If you missed it this year, come on out and enjoy the day with Meals on Wheels and Crews Subaru in 2013.

  


2012 Crews Event - Paws and Claws Pet Expo

 

September 2012 - We had an amazing time at the Lowcountry Paws and Claws Pet Expo, and we are happy to say we once again got some great photos of the pups at the Exchange Park in Ladson. There is no way the Subaru pooches would let us miss it! The expo took place September 15th fom 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  According to the event's website, "more than 5,000 people and their furry, feathered and scaly companions joined us for the Pet Expo and more than 60 businesses and animal organizations were there to meet them." Hope to see you again next year!

  


2012 Crews Event - 4Kay Yow Golf Classic

 

September 2012 - What a great day participating in the 4Kay Golf Classic on September 10th at the Bulls Bay Golf Club!  We had a blast!  This is just one of the events for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund,  a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved, and unifying people for a common cause.  Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and battled the disease until her death on January 24, 2009. The inaugural event was held in 2008, and fortunately Kay was able to witness the basketball community pull together to be part of something bigger than basketball.  Since its inception, the Fund has raised nearly $6.7 million thanks partly to the success of the annual 4Kay Golf Classic.  While no one won the hole-in-one challenge for a new vehicle, it was fun watching people try.  From our vantage point, there were some close ones!  On to next year!

   

2012 Crews Event - Ronald McDonald Charity Classic

 

July 2012 - We celebrated 10 years of helping families in their time of need at the 10th Annual Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston Charity Golf Classic at The Ocean Course on Kiawah Island. Thank you to everyone that attended and came out for the event at this amazing location.  It was a great time! The Taste of the Lowcountry Pre-Tournament Party and Auction also took place at The Kiawah Island Club July 9th at 6 PM, and was another successful part of the Golf Classic.  Crews Subaru was proud to be a part of this event, and we look forward to another great year in 2013!


2012 Crews Event - Hannah & Friends

 
June 2012 - We had a great time at the 9th Annual Hannah & Friends Celebrity Golf Classic at RiverTowne Country Club, on June 22 to 23 here in Charleston, South Carolina.  Crews was proud to be the official automobile sponsor for this event as we pitched in to help Hannah & Friends, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with special needs.  We look forward to being back next year!  See you then!

   

2012 Crews Event - Rotary Duck Drop

 

June 2012 - Twenty-five-thousand rubber ducks plummeted from the bridge by Daniel Island! Thanks to everyone that adopted a duck and came out to be part of a great event that generates funds for Lowcountry and Rotary charities. We had a great crowd at the Daniel Island Waterfront Park and Community Dock for the drop, and everyone had a great time with great food from Charleston's Food Trucks, and a ton of Kid and family fun! 2012 Crews Event - Give and Grill

 
May 2012 - Thanks to everyone that joined us for the Red Cross Blood Drive event "Give and Grill." The free cookout courtesy of Jamie Westendorf was amazing as his cooking always is, and all who donated picked up a Red Cross tumbler, and enjoyed some terrific live Jazz. There will be more opportunities to donate blood - as Memorial Day kicked off the summer, and the Red Cross always has summer shortages. Watch for more news here!


2012 Crews Event - 12th Annual Bocce Bash

 

May 2012 - What do you get when you combine 32 Bocce courts, 32 sets of Boche balls, 128 teams of four, and they all come together on the Charleston Battery Soccer field on Daniel Island this May 19th? The 12th Annual Bocce Bash - a great Lowcountry event that generates needed funds for the South Carolina Special Olympics.  The tournament is a bracket-style competition, held with 32 courts, and 4 teams per court. The morning competition is round-robin play with the highest scoring teams returning after lunch for single-elimination play.  Lunch will be provided to players from a truck rodeo that will include Taco Boy, Daniel Island Grill, and Hubee Dee's.  We had a great time at the event and BOTH of the Crews Subaru teams made it to the "Sweet 16" of the tournament!  Thanks to everyone that came out, and we hope to see you next year for an even bigger and better event for Special Olympics!

   


2012 Crews Event - Dragon Boat Festival


 

May 2012 - We had a great time at the Charleston Dragon Boat Festival and we were proud to be a sponsor of this year's event. This year's event raised more than $100K for cancer survivors!  Amazing!  If you have never seen a dragon boat race, you have to come out and watch next year - it is like nothing you have seen before.  From the Charleston Dragon Boat website, "Is this fun, or what?  Dragon Boat Charleston is South Carolina's FIRST dragonboat team.  Dragon Boat Charleston offers recreational, cancer survivor and community paddling.  As we like to say, "there is a boat for everyone."  Hope to see you next year to help contribute to a great cause.  Crews Subaru will be there again gettin' our dragon on!
 
  



2012 Crews Event - The 9th Annual Charleston Dog Show


 

May 2012 - The Charleston Dog Show took place in Marion Square on Saturday, May 5th.  Packed with family-friendly events, the show began with a Blessing of the Dogs, followed by friendly canine competition, dog vendors and silent auction with pet art, microchipping, dog rescue village, gourmet lunch boxes, children's activities, educational booths, canine concessions and much more!  We had a great time with the pooches. Come on out next year and join Crews Subaru and the pooches.  This is a dog-approved event!
