The Fastest Subaru Around

There's been a fair amount of buzz about Subaru lately. Subaru is giving us something amazing, and we love them for it. They're attempting to set a new lap record for a four-door at the famous Nürburgring race track this summer. They made a special, even faster car for the attempt: the Subaru WRX STI Type RA. Subaru fans are used to the first two acronyms there, but the RA is the new part; it stands for Record Attempt. And of course, Subaru knows there's no point in making just one car, so they're releasing this special Subaru to the public in a very limited batch.

The Subaru WRX STI Type RA is powered by the familiar 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine, but it manages to draw 310 horsepower thanks to features like stronger pistons and a new cold air intake. Subaru is still being coy with many of the details; we know that it's lighter than a standard Subaru WRX STI, but we don't know by how much. We do know that it's street legal, and we also know that we want one. Unfortunately, the Subaru WRX STI Type RA will be a very limited run, with only 500 produced. We can't wait to see how the record attempt goes.
